Database Administration

​The Database Administration Branch provides database management for mainframe and distributed systems databases running on physical and virtual server platforms. Services provided by the Database Administration Branch include all aspects of database management including designing and maintaining the databases with an Enterprise focus, specifically installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, migrating, performing database backups and recoveries, performance tuning, and administering database security.

Database Administrators support databases across the Commonwealth under the following platforms:

  • Distributed Databases: DB2/LUW, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Mainframe Databases: DB2 and IMS
