Kari Welch is the Executive Director of the Office of Architecture & Governance (OAG), where she leads over 125 staff across four divisions and 11 branches, delivering enterprise IT solutions, governance, and support across Kentucky’s executive branch. Under her leadership, OIAG oversees a broad portfolio of services including enterprise email, Microsoft 365 (M365), Mainframe as a Service (MaaS), Enterprise GIS, project and change management, application development, content management, data services, business intelligence, and Kentucky Information Technology Standards (KITS).
Since joining state government in 2005, Kari has served in a wide range of IT roles across several agencies, bringing over 25 years of experience in both public and private sectors. She is recognized for her deep technical expertise, strong financial acumen, and transformative leadership - identifying millions in cost savings and leading numerous legacy modernization efforts. Kari is a passionate advocate for collaboration and data sharing, leading initiatives that enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and position the Commonwealth for continued innovation.
She holds a degree in Computer Engineering Technology from the Louisville Technical Institute and resides in Frankfort with her husband and two children.
