On March 11, 2007, new federal rules began extending Daylight Saving Time by four weeks as a result of the national Energy Policy Act of 2005. The Commonwealth Office of Technology (COT) prepared for this time change and worked hard to ensure that all COT services affected by the change were updated accordingly. COT encouraged each state organization to inventory the equipment and software it supports, and prepare for this change. COT remains prepared to assist in this transition if necessary.

Vendor Information and Resources
Many vendor products are no longer supported, and thus, patches updating the DST rules will not be available (examples include Windows NT 4.0 and Windows XP Service Pack 1). In several cases, however, utilities are available to perform manual updates (such as Time Zone Editor for Windows). There is no central clearinghouse of data for open-source project users, so individual checks will have to made to determine whether updates are available.
