Mainframe Services / User ID Request (RACF) Access
COT provides access to the state mainframe. Also, we are responsible for providing secure access to the state mainframe server (z/OS/390 environment), including the creation and maintenance of user IDs.
TCP/IP is now the network protocol for this internal intranet, which uses the KIH Network. COT supports software to allow the state's mainframe computer to participate in its TCP/IP network and communicate with other state computers, including personal computers.
COT also supports software which allows the state's largest server to operate as a web server. This capability makes it possible for any authorized user with a web browser to access state government's huge store of legacy data. By utilizing Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) software, this provides users access to the mainframe environment by defining userids, datasets and resources. RACF functions as a User Access Control tool by identifying and verifying users and their access to protected datasets and resources. Violations of the RACF Access rules results in the violation information being logged and online reports being generated. To request a userID, complete the COT-F181 Network/Server Access Request Form.
