Data Communications rates have been restructured.
The rate structure is based primarily on speed, replacing the prior schema of sliding charges reflecting “backbone” access and IP address ranges.
The rate includes COT procurement activities, setup, installation, system and security configurations, upgrades / patch maintenance, firewall services, change control and finally access to the Commonwealth Service Desk 24x7x365.
In addition, there may be a one time assessment for equipment fees.
Support staff is on-site Monday – Friday, 7am to 6pm. Emergency ‘after hours’ support is available.
DC40 Managed Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
The DC40 rate is applicable to DSL lines of 1.5 Mb, 3.0Mb or 6.0 Mb/sec (million bits per second) and represents an additional COT charge which will be added to the base vendor cost for the DSL circuit. This service provides small agencies an alternative to COT's premium, managed-services offerings described below. Although this service provides opportunities for cost savings, agencies must recognize that DSL connections have service limitations. A thorough business risk analysis should be performed with COT's assistance before enrolling in this plan.
View the DC40 FAQ for additional information.
DC30 Data Communications - High
The DC30 rate is applicable to connection speeds greater than T-1 (1.544 Mbps, or 1.544 million bits per second). For example, 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps (or one billion bits per second).
DC20 Data Communications - Medium
The DC20 rate is applicable to connections speeds of 384 Kbps (or 384 kilobits per second) to T-1 (1.544 Mbps).
DC10 Data Communications - Low
The DC10 rate is applicable to connection speeds less than 384 Kbps. This would include DSL services, 19.2 Kbps, 56 Kbps, 128 Kbps and 256 Kbps.
