COT Security Responsibilities

COT is responsible for many aspects of IT security for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including:

  • Physical security of the Central data center, as well as five other COT buildings, using the latest technology in electronic locking systems and badge access.
  • All aspects of IBM z/OS server security utilizing Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) software.
  • Development and maintenance of a disaster recovery business continuity plan.
  • Provide secondary support to the Active Virus Defense program, providing the Commonwealth and its agencies with reduced software costs and a standardized version of software. Mc Afee serves as the primary support.
  • Creation of policies and procedures concerning all network security issues, in addition to enterprise messaging and internet usage.
