Mission

“The Commonwealth Office of Technology is the Commonwealth’s premier technology organization for providing leadership and governance of all aspects of information technology to enhance government services, improve decision making, promote efficiency and eliminate waste."

Vision

By taking an Enterprise Approach to the Management of Information Technology (EAMIT) the Commonwealth Office of Technology will transform the use of technology in state government to achieve a closer alignment of technology investments to the business of government, an increased value from those investments, better management of risk, greater control over escalating costs, and a marked improvement in service, both in terms of what is offered to employees and citizens and the quality of the delivery.

Mission Focus

Our mission requires us to:

  • Develop and maintain the highest levels of technical competence in our workforce to address current technology challenges and the anticipated challenges of the immediate future
  • Manage the common components of the Commonwealth’s technology infrastructure in a way that ensures the highest level of service at the minimal cost
  • Provide governance over the current and future technology investments of the Commonwealth to ensure wise investment of limited assets, maximum interoperability and reuse of systems and intellectual property
  • Focus technology on the business of government to ensure that every investment is directly tied to an identified priority or requirement, and that the investment is managed to deliver a benefit commensurate with the investment, and
  • Promote technology in our education system and in our economy to assist the Education and Economic Development Cabinets in their missions of ensuring workforce qualifications and jobs in the developing economy of Kentucky
