IT Consolidation
The Commonwealth is currently engaged in a consolidation effort aimed at rationalizing the management of information technology resources throughout the executive branch. By consolidating certain IT staff, disparate telecommunications systems, server pools, printing capacities and the functions of IT procurement, service desk and security administration, COT is providing significantly better, more reliable and more uniform services at lower cost to agencies. ITIL - IT Infrastructure Library
COT has adopted the best practice approach to managing IT infrastructure and services as defined by the internationally recognized IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). The agency is investing significant resources in ITIL training as a means of enhancing its delivery of services to agencies and ensuring adherance to formal ITIL service management processes and standards. The result will be reliable, high-quality, well-managed IT services delivered to state agencies. Click for more information about COT's ITIL initiative.
KY Human Resource Information System (KHRIS)
The existing Commonwealth of Kentucky personnel payroll system is over 20 years old, at risk of failure and has limited software support. There is a major effort underway to replace this system with a modern, web-based HRIS. The new system is expected to include electronic time and attendance, relational database reporting, a recruiting system, workforce planning characteristics, integration with the Commonwealth’s financial system, training management, employee self-service for benefits enrollment and additional functionality. Project Management Information System
The Commonwealth Office of Technology (COT) is establishing an Enterprise Project Management Office. To support its ability to track and administer large IT projects in executive branch agencies, the EPMO is acquiring a Project Management Information System (PMIS). The PMIS tool (CA Clarity from CA, Inc., formerly NIKU) will be used by executive branch state agencies and COT to evaluate, prioritize, and select appropriate information technology investments. Additionally, the PMIS tool will facilitate the exchange of project status information between agencies and staff, assist in the assessment of project progress and improve the visibility and management of the state’s portfolio of projects. Capital Correspondence System
The Capital Correspondence System manages the voluminous correspondence that flows into and out of the Governor's Office. The system is used to track requests for information and services to ensure citizens' and constituents' needs are met in a timely manner.
