Technology changes everything. The commonwealth is working daily to embrace IT advancements not just as a tool, but as a strategic enabler for modernizing legacy systems, laying a foundation for government-wide efficiencies, and transforming deliverables for citizen self service and shared efficiencies. Maximizing the use of technology will allow Kentucky to achieve one of its top priorities: engaging citizens by bringing them closer to government and increasing their safety and satisfaction with the commonwealth’s use of IT.
Kentucky's IT strategic plan for the 2010-2012 biennium explains the IT strategies that the commonwealth is using to transform the business of government. The commonwealth’s most mission–critical technology initiatives, which are introduced in the strategic plan, describe how Kentucky government is changing to increase the efficiency of IT infrastructure, to improve inter-cabinet and inter-agency relationships, and enhance business functions and the lives of citizens by adopting, for the first time, private sector business practices.
